Thunderstorms and the threat of severe weather will return for some Thursday afternoon.
The entire I-30 corridor and points north are under a Slight Risk of severe weather Thursday afternoon and evening.
On a scale of 1 to 5, a Slight Risk is 2 out of 5. Even though widespread severe weather is not expected, a few strong to severe storms will be possible.
The strongest storms that develop this afternoon will be capable of producing large hail and damaging winds. Overall, the tornado threat looks low.
The best storm chances and the greatest risk of severe weather Thursday afternoon and evening will be north of the I-20 corridor.
By 4 p.m., FutureTrack shows a big line of thunderstorms moving east along the I-30 corridor. The strongest storms within this line of storms will be capable of strong wind gusts and hail. Secondary concerns could be heavy rain and frequent lightning.
By 8 p.m., the threat of severe will be winding down. The latest run of FutureTrack shows storms developing further south this evening than previous runs. If this trend continues, then Shreveport-Bossier and the rest of the I-20 corridor's rain chances will have to be increased.
By midnight on Friday, FutureTrack shows most of the storms have dissipated.
A cold front will drop south through the area on Friday, so more showers and storms are in the forecast on Friday. On Friday, rain chances will increase from northwest to southeast across the area. The best chance for rain Friday morning will be north of I-30.
Scattered showers and storms will continue to develop further south throughout the day on Friday.
A few showers will linger into Saturday morning, mainly south of the I-20 corridor. The sky will start to clear Saturday afternoon from north to south.
Even though a strong storm can't be ruled out on Friday, mainly across parts of deep East Texas, the threat of severe weather on Friday looks low. Strong to severe storms are not expected Saturday morning.
Other than a few showers Saturday morning, the upcoming weekend looks pretty nice.
