SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Brandon Oldenburg and the rest of the Moonbots at Moonbot Studios were eager to share their Mardi Gras wishes with Shreveport and during Sunday's Krewe of Highland Mardi Gras parade, they had the opportunity. Oldenburg is the 2012 Grand Marshal of the parade and he gave KSLA News 12 an exclusive look inside the float.
From the tunes, carefully selected to pay homage to the parade scene from the 1980's classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, to the bounties of beads, to the colorful balls for throwing, the Moonbot float was all about fun.
"It only makes sense that Moonbot would have a float throwing wonderful plastic things to the people below. It's all about whimsy. It's all about joy," Oldenburg said before the parade.
But the Moonbots had more than just Mardi Gras to celebrate. Monday morning, they'll head to Hollywood as Oscar nominees for "The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore," an animated short created by the Shreveport based studio.
While Oldenburg and his fellow animators joke a lot, he says becoming a staple in the community is a serious goal.
Shreveport's Moonbot Studios won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film for "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore." Now a parade is planned. More>>
