OK couple arraigned for murder and kidnapping

TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) -

An Oklahoma couple was arraigned on federal murder and kidnapping charges Friday.

U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas Conner Eldridge says 46-year-old Leslie Larcade and 37-year-old Chrystal Larcade appeared in federal court for charges of conspiracy to commit a kidnapping and kidnapping resulting in death in the death of 45-year-old Shannon Watkins.

Miller County, Arkansas police say on August 13, 2011, the Broken Bow, Oklahoma couple handcuffed Watkins, put him in a vehicle and drove him from McCurtain County, Oklahoma to Miller County, Arkansas. Police also say the Larcades put a noose around Watkins' neck causing various injuries that led to his death. Police say the couple then dumped Watkins' body at the Texarkana Speedway in Miller County.

Eldridge says if the Larcades are convicted of conspiracy to commit a kidnapping, they face up to life in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. If convicted of Kidnapping Resulting in Death, the couple faces of life in prison or death. The couple is also being charged in Arkansas. A trial has been set for April 18th.

Eldridge says this case is being investigated by the Miller County Sheriff's Office, Arkansas State Police, the McCurtain County, Oklahoma Sheriff's Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the FBI.
