SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Two Shreveport police officers were fired Friday morning.

According to a statement from the Shreveport Police Department, Chief of Police Willie Shaw terminated the two officers on Friday morning following separate pre-disciplinary conferences.

Willis, 46, was terminated by Chief Shaw for violation of department policies. According to SPD spokesperson Sgt. Bill Goodin, Willis' termination was the result of an internal investigation initiated by Chief Shaw in response to Willis' indictment on bankruptcy fraud charges.

He has been on administrative leave since his indictment on January 27th.

Willis is accused of concealing assets from his creditors during bankruptcy proceedings in 2009. He's also accused of making false statements under oath.  He faces a maximum of five years in prison and a fine. He is due in U.S. District Court court on those charges on February 14th.

Willis joined the department in March of 1990. He had been arrested twice before - once for malfeasance in office and later for simple battery in an unrelated case. The battery charge was later dismissed.

In an unrelated case, Jeffrion Smith, who was hired by the department in February of 2009, was fired by Chief Shaw for violation of department policies. Smith was arrested on January 26th in an undercover prostitution and solicitation sting.

Smith, 31, was off-duty at the time of the alleged offenses.

He is charged one count each of solicitation of prostitution, drug distribution and possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance.
