EBARB, LA (KSLA) -

The Louisiana State fire marshal confirmed that a woman severely burned in a Sabine Parish house fire intentionally set it herself.

Police say 51-year-old Teresa Carter is listed in critical condition at LSU Health's burn unit and is on a ventilator after a fire at her mobile home in Ebarb Wednesday.

Carter's sister-in-law, Tammy Celotti, says Carter was among 40 families being evicted from the Solan Camp mobile home park. Celotti says Carter was devastated about the eviction. "This sent her over the edge.  She was terrified her and her dog wasn't going to have a place to live and this is what sent her over the edge," says Celotti.

The eviction letter from Solan Camp Mobile Home management says they regret having to evict all of the families, but they do not have a choice because it was the owner of the land's decision.

KSLA News 12's Jeff Ferrell spoke with the Sabine Parish River Authority Executive Director Jim Pratt who said the residents were living on state property illegally. Prior to the SRA's new policy, Solan Camp was able to keep their trailers at the location, even though it was a violation, by paying a fine each year.
