American troops may have moved out of Iraq, but our men and women are very much on the front lines in Afghanistan.

A vivid reminder of this came just a few days ago when we learned a Barksdale Air Force Base Airman was killed while serving in Afghanistan.

23-year-old Bryan Bell, died in an explosion. He was part of an Elite Bomb Squad based at Barksdale in Bossier City. His job was one of the most dangerous in all of the military services.

Bryan volunteered to serve his country. His sacrifice reaches beyond the Ark-La-Tex as he leaves a wife and loving family.

Well over 1700 members of the U.S. military have died in Afghanistan since the U.S. invaded in 2001. More than 15,000 have been wounded. The war in Afghanistan is now the longest war in our nation's history.
