2011 is now behind us. It was quite a year. The nation's economy continued to struggle, but overall, it's better than it was in 2010.
Despite promises to tone it down, the political rhetoric across the country heated up and the stalemate in Washington is not going away.
The stock market has become a roller coaster ride. On a positive note, our troops are now out of Iraq, ending a decades long war.
We have a lot to look forward to in 2012. It's a chance to wipe the slate clean, take a deep breath and forge ahead in a brand new year.
Many of our friends and neighbors continue to struggle with unemployment and uncertainty. But here in the Ark-La-Tex, we have weathered the economic downturn better than most.
Over the past few months, I've spoken with dozens of business owners in our area. The overall sentiment is optimism for 2012, that things will continue to get better.
And that's something we can all work to make happen.
