This past week we had a chance to watch a political theater at it's best.
On one hand, Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover with his plans for a $94 million bond issue for street repairs. On the other hand, vocal opposition to the plan from the Chamber of Commerce, among others.
The City of Council voted down the proposal.
I believe there is general concensus that streets in the City of Shreveport are in need of repair. Maintaining the infrastructure of a large city is something that must to be done.
How to do it and how to pay for it, needs to be carefully considered, debated and planned.
The mayor says he will now form a task force, made up of citizens, business leaders and others to work on all this. All sides need to be represented. We should know the results next year.
Let me know what you think. I'm James Smith.
