It seems that everyday the aftermath of spring storms in the south gets worse.
First, it was 600 tornadoes killing people and destroying homes and businesses as they moved across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.
Now, it's rising flood waters along the Mississippi River; swamping homes and farmland, threatening communities in Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.
In these storms, more than 13,000 homes have been destroyed and that number continues to rise. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced in need of clothes, food and shelter.
This week, KSLA News 12 is teaming up with CMT, Country Music Television, to broadcast a live concert to raise money for the American Red Cross. Money will help those affected by the spring storms.
Headliners include Hank Williams Jr., Keith Urban and Lady Antebellum. The concert can be seen Thursday night starting at 8 o'clock on CMT on your cable or satellite system.
Or you can watch it on KSLA Digital Channel 12.2.
It's a way we can help our neighbors in need. I'm James Smith.
