The most important responsibility of any parent is to take care of their children. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen.
In fact, thousands of children around Louisiana are owed more than $1 billion in child support. It's a similar story in Arkansas and Texas.
That's an incredible amount of money. For every one of these children there is a parent not living up to his or her responsibility. For dads and moms who fall into this category, you should be ashamed.
In Louisiana, the state has taken one more step to try and collect some of that money. In just a few weeks a new law goes into effect that will confiscate casino winnings from parents who are behind in child support.
The state will intercept cash winnings of $1,200 or more. Of course, this will not solve the problem.
What needs to happen is for deadbeat parents to man-up and support their children.
