NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (AP) - Authorities were planning to resume searching this morning for at least three people missing after flooding by the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine. New Braunfels police were looking for two men swept away by the Guadalupe River. Austin authorities are seeking a woman who couldn't be found after her car got caught in floodwaters.
HOUSTON (AP) - Three Houston firefighters have been fired after they were accused of entering a racial epithet into a patient's electronic emergency medical report. Acting Fire Chief Rick Flanagan said Wednesday the men were fired after an investigation into the March 7 incident. A union head calls the firings a "travesty."
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A San Antonio police officer was indefinitely suspended and another received a 60-day ban for what authorities called harassment of a female officer. The male officers were accused of putting trash in the woman's work mailbox and sending derogatory message to her and about her on patrol car computers.
SHANKSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Former first lady Laura Bush will speak tomorrow in Pittsburgh to help raise money for a memorial to the victims of Flight 93, which crashed in rural Pennsylvania in the Sept. 11 attacks. She will join first lady Michelle Obama on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the attacks, for a memorial service at the crash site.
