SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – We have a KSLA News 12 alert for parents: head lice is a topic that makes many people squirm.
Parents keep their kids out of school if they catch it, but a group of pediatricians says that's not the right thing to do.
A report from the American Academy of Pediatrics says a kid should not be kept out, or forced to stay out of school if they get head lice, because it has a low level of contagion within classrooms.
It says there is no big health risk, but for the parents we talked to, it's a touchy subject.
KSLA News 12's Tracy Clemons did some checking on this for parents.
