SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Moments after the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl, customers flocked to local Shreveport retailers to buy up all the memorabilia they could - Academy on Bert Kouns struggled to keep up with the demand.
And that excitement, while not as intense could be seen in sales the next day as well.
"I figured I'd get me one and my son one," said one customer as he inspected two shirts.
After running out of the t-shirts last night, thousands more arrived this morning.
"This was merchandise that once we saw that the saints won the game we placed another emergency order to get it in so we can take care of the fans," said Academy Store Manager, Doug Paga.
Saints caps appear to be the hardest to keep on the shelves.
Customers say they traveled all over town to find them, and came up short here as well.
But Academy promises to get more soon.
"We're going to be getting in more and more shipments," said Paga.
He says the store will also begin to get different styles of shirts and caps in the future to provide fans with several different and fun ways to remember a great victory.
One customer said she'll get a very personal and permanent memory, a tattoo because she always swore she would if the Saints won. But for now, she says she'll just settle for a t-shirt.
