SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – An elderly Shreveport woman remains in critical condition after she suffered severe burns during a fire in her apartment.

The fire started just before 9 a.m. at an apartment building on Ockley Street near Creswell Avenue.

The Shreveport Fire Department says the woman suffered third degree burns over a majority of her body. She's being treated for her burns at LSU Hospital.

Firefighters say the blaze started in the kitchen of the woman's apartment. It took crews about 10 minutes to get the fire under control. Several apartments in the multi-unit complex suffered smoke damage.

No one else was injured in the fire.
